Welcome to Home Sweet Sebring, a dedicated space for preserving and celebrating the rich history of Sebring, Florida. This initiative began as a vibrant Facebook group, created for Sebring residents, both past and present, to share photos and stories from all eras involving Sebring and its surrounding areas. Our community's enthusiastic participation has inspired us to expand into this comprehensive online gallery.
Sebring is a growing area, and while progress is essential, we believe it's equally important to honor our heritage as a Florida frontier town. Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Jackson, not the bustling Highway 27 corridor, Sebring's story is one of humble beginnings. Land was once bought and sold in the grand lobbies of our historic hotels, and sometimes even given away for homesteading. People from all over came with everything they owned—often nothing more than what could fit in a burlap bag—to settle and start new lives here.
Our goal is to ensure that new generations know Sebring's story, from the first building to the newest. Many of our contributors are direct descendants of Sebring pioneers, providing a unique and personal perspective on our town's history. We aim to generate a balance between old and new, showcasing historic photos, intriguing stories, and facts about the origins of our landmarks.
This archive is a collaborative effort, enriched by the contributions of our community. We invite you to explore, enjoy, and share often. Whether you're a longtime resident or a curious visitor, there's something here for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this journey to preserve Sebring's legacy.
We would love to hear from you!
